Saint Patrick’s Day Decor

It’s almost Saint Patrick’s Day and I have been working on my Saint Patrick’s Day Decor display mostly to keep myself occupied in this crazy time. But also, I have always enjoyed St. Patrick’s Day, my husband being Welsh and Irish (and English), so there is a long history there. His family on his dad’s side came from the middle of Ireland, and we visited there in 1996.

That trip to Ireland was quite the adventure, all the windy roads, with high stone walls, We stayed in a couple of Bed and Breakfasts, one a small cottage in a coal mining town. The other a grand large home. Both were gorgeous in their own ways. There was nothing more memorable than taking our one year old son to the local establishment and seeing the coal miners in the corner of the room, at their regular table I am sure, having a pint, covered in black coal.

It brings back memories. Anyway, here is my white farmhouse hutch that I started to transform for Saint Patricks Day decor and some fun.

My Green Vintage Enamelware

Below shows the hutch with adding a few green vintage farmhouse items, such as green vintage enamelware and green antiquarian books from my collection. I had found some more green kitchen utensils plus my original green rolling pin from my hope chest.

The green and white go so well together, and my green enamelware vintage scales add a perfect touch for the bottom shelf. Great for this Saint Patricks Day Decor!

Saint Patrick’s Day Decor:

St. Patrick’s Day decor wouldn’t be the same without some shamrocks and leprechauns! I found these clip-on St. Patrick’s Day hats and Shamrock hair clips. There didn’t seem to be that great of a selection on Vancouver Island. I did see a couple vintage Leprechauns at the latest vintage fair in Sydney, but the lady wanted $30 for each of them! I had to pass. Anyway, I added the little Leprechaun top hats and Shamrock hair clips and strung some shamrock beads across the top.

Here are a few pictures of the result:

I also switched out a couple of the green doilies to the Shamrock Green color 🙂

And then I added the beaded streamers 🙂

More St. Patrick’s Day Fun:

Even though I couldn’t find my little leprechaun figurines at a reasonable price, I will keep looking for next year. I also decided to try some artwork converted from photos, and was able to put together a couple of coloring pages with St. Patrick’s Day Leprechauns on them. They can be used for coloring with school class or your kids or grandkids, or for creating a card to give to your friend or family. The link is here to the free art cards: Free Country Artwork Downloadables. There are a few to choose from on that page, such as the one below:
