Yes, blue is one of my favorite colors. It must be my Finnish heritage! I recently started adding more blue vintage cabin decor at our little cabin in the woods. If you saw my original post, Our Cabin in the Woods, you would have seen some of the blue accents. Such as these blue vintage enamelware pieces which I have been slowly collecting:
I had found these blue cannisters, on two separate occasions at a local thrift store. That seems to happen a lot. You go in the first time and find one thing you are looking for on its own, that you know is part of a set. The next time you go, the other half or part is there! So now I just get it if I like it and know that somewhere the matching piece will show up 🙂
I had been decorating with blue for awhile, and the futon couch, with vintage linens make me happy.

Here is a recent photo with the blue vintage enamelware in place. Looks like it has been there forever!
The blue and green themed placemats are from my last trip to Finland. They are a bit like marimekko patterns but are from a company called Finlayson.
Our neighbor brought these lovely flowers for me as we had a recent memorial service…She must have known I would love these country flowers. So gorgeous and thoughtful!

Here’s a short video of some of the inside of our cabin and views to the lake. You can see from the video that we have retained much of the original style of the rustic and antique cabin decor.
I think the message here is that it does not have to be high end or expensive to be beautiful. Simple decor is best, especially at a cabin. Pick a theme and stick to it as best you can. It makes every day a lovely and enjoyable day!
