A Vintage Valentine’s Day is always special and you can mix the treasures from the past with some updated Valentine’s Day fun, such as a vintage postcard or two. These two vintage postcards were from my great aunt. (tag: Vintage Valentines Day Decor).
Update: January 2023 – I have included some Vintage Valentines Day Ideas to make your day memorable and another vignette or two!
I have been sorting through all my vintage and collectible items as of late, and with our recent move I came across my collection of vintage ladies manicure sets, as well as some vintage ladies gloves of my mother’s, a vintage purse, more lace of course. I have also been on the hunt lately for vintage doilies and other lace or crochet items. Pretty soon they are going to start calling me The Doily Lady!
I updated my hutch display to include a few vintage valentines decor items. I hope they give you some ideas for some valentines fun!
Here I displayed some valentine decor in my white kitchen hutch 🙂 I love these! You can view more white and ironstone displays here: White and Ironstone!
I recently found a heart shaped cake pan and some vintage cookie cutters, that go well with my vintage kitchen items and some red antiquarian books of the romantic sort!
These sweet little versions of Pride and Prejudice, Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Poems by R.L. Stevenson are so collectible and charming!
The plate above is the American Beauty pattern by Royal Albert. Aren’t these vintage white gloves gorgeous? They belonged to my mother and add to the romantic charm with some pink vintage doilies and a hanky.
Pink is always in style with me, and I think that the country vintage charm of pink teacups and lace is so beautiful. Sometimes I think I belong in another era! When I watch Jane Austen classic movies I especially think so 🙂
This small embroidered change purse and vintage pink manicure set are so gorgeous. I hope you enjoy some vintage Valentine’s Day fun as much as I do.
Vintage Valentines Day Ideas
Here are 3 great ideas for creating some Vintage Valentines charm and special memories with those you love:
1) Create a vintage tea party with your best pink china and display some of your vintage treasures 🙂 Whether it’s with your special partner or maybe you want to surprise your aunt or mother, a vintage tea party is always enjoyable and special. Some dainty cucumber sandwiches would suit the occasion.
2) Go for a walk with your special person in the forest or at a nearby garden and enjoy the flowers of the season, the winding nature trails while you listen to the birds singing. You can also download the Audubon app ahead of time and try to record bird species and sightings along the way. (Link is mentioned as a courtesy only). Depending where you are, gather some forest flora along the way to add some fresh forest scents to your home.
3) Enjoy a trip together to your favorite garden center to pick out a gorgeous bouquet or flowering plant at a local flower shop or garden store. Or, you can even pick out some some single stems and create your own simple but beautiful arrangement together. Perhaps you collected some forest flora on your walk to add to your bouquet such as some smaller branches with pine needles or some salal.
When you get home, cook up a special meal together such as Baked Salmon or try my Coquilles St. Jacques recipe, both of which pair well with a nice glass of wine. Serve the meal with a special table setting either on some vintage plates or with your best china and some vintage linens and decor.
Hope these ideas help you make your day extra special with your valentine!
Latest Valentine’s Vignettes!
What a treat to find this gorgeous anniversary plate with 40 on it! My hubby and I are celebrating our 30th next year and I aspire to reach our 40th and beyond!
This poetry antiquarian book by Edgar Allen Poe has a Valentine’s poem!
And here’s my new Valentine’s Day Vignette. I love all the pink doilies and hearts! I included a pink depression glass trinket holder and some pinkish purple vintage inkwells. The vintage postcard was from my aunt’s photos.
Another Vignette for Valentine’s Day – 2023
I started looking for a red rose teacup to match my red Anniversary Rose plates and found this one. So of course I had to create another vignette, just in time for Valentine’s Day 2023.
My hubby surprised me with roses this morning. They will only last a few days but these ones are perfect! Definitely worth a close up photo, so gorgeous.
Reminder to fella’s out there, you can never go wrong with roses!!
Here is the full Valentine’s Roses Vignette with my mother’s Karjalan/Karelian Finnish tablecloth in the traditional red pattern.
